The Modern Issue

This issue is involved in many aspects of civilization including the social, political, and economical aspects. The problem created in politics is extremely important. It has been a rising issue for years and it is worse than ever. This will effect the economy because if guns deemed illegal, they will be taken out of the market and gun sales will plummet.

This article shows some staggering statistics and reveals the truth of gun control in politics.
Social Impact:

Some of the main social problems that guns create are an increased crime and death rate. When people  have easy access to firearms, want to harm others, and don't know how to use guns, it is very easy to hurt somebody.

Obviously,  not allowing people to have guns would lower these criminal and death rates... But what about the people that use guns the way that they are supposed to be used? This is where an issue is created.

The main issue is that by limiting the rights of certain people, it's violating all of the rights of

Some Staggering Statistics:

-A record 16.4 million background checks for gun purchases were requested in 2011, including 1.8 million in December, a record for a single month.

-There were 535 accidental firearms deaths in 2006 within a population of almost 300 million people.

-Newsweek has reported that law-abiding American citizens using guns in self-defense during 2003 shot and killed two and one-half times as many criminals as police did, and with fewer than one-fifth as many incidents as police where an innocent person mistakenly identified as a criminal (2% versus 11%).

-The National Institute of Justice estimated that, in the year 2006, 68 percent of murders, 42 percent of robberies, and 22 percent of aggravated assaults that were committed in the United States were committed with firearms.

-About 50 percent of all homes in the United States contain at least one firearm. More than half of these are loaded or have ammunition stored with the gun.

  2. I like how this post shows that many people get killed accidentally, to be honest it was surprising to me how many people actually are killed on accident due to people owning guns when they maybe should not own them at all. This post got me to start thinking more about gun control then I use to.

  4. I really liked reading this post Mitch! Those statistics really got me interested. This is probably one of the most controversial topics in America today. I think that people should be able to defend themselves if they are in a bad situation. However I don't think that people should be allowed to purchase automatic weapons with large clips. No one needs weapons like that. I think that it would be a smart move to make it a little harder to purchase weapons. Although it would be a pain for people who have guns for the right reasons, it would help keep Americans safe.
